Due to the nature of the sport, a practice missed by one cheerleader has a significant impact on the squad, particularly on that cheerleader's stunt group. It also takes away from others when a coach has to step out during practice and teach what was missed.

As a result, practices may only be missed due to illness or (if the head coach is notified in advance by a parent) due a compelling personal reason.
Please make an effort to schedule your family vacations during June and July.
August is a critical month where skill sets are being evaluated and positions determined.  As a result, if you elect to miss any portion of August DUE TO A VACATION, you risk being  moved to a different squad, and your daughter may be placed in a backup position. Your daughter will also be required to sit out the first game, in full uniform, and not be allowed to participate in TPHS Pop Warner night.  It is not fair to the other families, who planned their vacations to not interfere with practices, and it impedes the progression of the squad for coaches to take time out to catch the girls up, who missed a very crucial part of the practice season.

This policy is applied to ALL cheer squads, Flag - Midget.

Preseason Policy:
1. Any cheerleader that misses more than 5 practices (excused or unexcused) prior to the first regular season game is eligible to be removed from the squad.

2. If a cheerleader misses any portion of August DUE TO A VACATION, you risk being  moved to a different squad, and your daughter may be placed in a backup position.

Please let us know about any already planned trips, issues with shared custody or other pre-existing reasons for missing practices ASAP. Some absences still may not be considered “excused" and up to the discretion of the head coach.

I

Regular Season and Post Season Attendance Policy:

1. If a cheerleader has one absence (excused or unexcused) during the week she will not be allowed to participate in a stunt group during that week’s game. If a cheerleader misses a game, she will sit out the following game. This is for safety reasons and will not be negotiated.

2. If a cheerleader has two excused* absences from practice during the week, or ONE unexcused absence then she will not be allowed to participate in that week’s game, but will be expected to dress in full uniform and support her squad from the sidelines. Not showing up will result in another missed game the following week.
*Excused absences are legitimate absences (sickness, family emergency, required school function) with notice given at least 24 hours in advance to a head coach. Birthday parties and other social functions will not be excused. Sitting out is for safety reasons, due to lack of practice, and safety will not be negotiated.

3. If a cheerleader consistently misses or is late for practice, the Head Cheer Coach may change their position in the competition routine as to not affect the performance of the rest of the squad.

4. Cheerleaders must stay the entire practice to be considered in attendance. Arriving more than 10 minutes late or leaving early = absence (see #2 for excused absences)

5. ALL cheerleaders (Flag through Midget) must arrive to a game 30 minutes prior to kick off (e.g., 9:30 for a 10:00 game). Any time after 30 minutes prior to a game is considered late and she will sit out the first quarter. If she arrives after the game has started she will sit out the first half.

6. In the event of a school function that affects a large portion of the squad (i.e. Jr. High dance) the Head Coach may change practice times or dates to accommodate the event, but is not required to do so (we do try to do this).

7. Practice days, times and locations are set by the Head Coach.

8.  Head coaches may refer players who violate the policy to the Board for potential removal from the squad.

9.  All cheerleaders will be treated equally.
