Pop Warner sets limits on the size of each team, depending on the number of adult coaches. A large squad consists of 21-35 cheerleaders and requires 3 adult coaches. A small squad consists of 20 or fewer cheerleaders and requires 2 coaches.
Our #1 goal is safety. To ensure safety, the squads are balanced to form a complete team (i.e., tumblers and flyers), by age level and skill. We will evaluate the girls ages 9 -14 and we will do our best to take into consideration requests while evaluating team placement. We also form squads so no two TPPW teams at the same level will compete against each other.
Generally, it is recommended that participants stay at the older age range for their level. New partipants are generally placed at the lowest level for their age group, but will be evaluated and placed on the need and skill level of the squad. Team placements will be announced in mid June. Once team placements are announced, there is still potential for some additional changes related to late sign-ups or drops. After August 1st, team placement will not change unless there is an eligibility issue.
